How deep do you typically drill for residential wells?
Our residential well drilling depths generally range from 100 to 300 feet. The specific depth is determined by several factors including the local geological conditions, water table depth, and applicable regulations. We conduct a thorough site assessment to establish the optimal well depth for each individual location.
What types of well pumps do you install?
We offer installation services for a variety of well pump types, such as submersible pumps, jet pumps, and centrifugal pumps. The selection of the most appropriate pump is based on several considerations, including the well's depth, water usage requirements, and specific site conditions. Our team of specialists will provide a recommendation for the most suitable pump type for your particular well system.
How long does it typically take to drill a new well?
The time required to drill a new well can vary depending on several factors, including the desired depth, soil composition, and the equipment utilized. For a typical residential well, the process usually takes between 1 to 3 days. More complex projects may require additional time. After evaluating your specific site, we can provide a more precise timeline for the completion of your well.
Do you offer water testing services?
We do provide comprehensive water testing services. Our tests are designed to identify various contaminants, including bacteria, minerals, and chemical substances. We advise regular water testing to ensure the ongoing safety and quality of your well water. Following the testing process, we provide a detailed report of the results and can recommend appropriate treatment options if necessary.
Do you offer services for older or non-functional wells?
Yes, we offer comprehensive services for existing wells, including older or non-functional ones. This includes well inspections to diagnose problems, repairs for pumps, pressure tanks, and casings, and professional well sealing (abandonment). Well sealing is often required by state regulation for non-operational wells to protect local groundwater from contamination.
Why would I need a water conditioning or softening system?
You would need a water conditioning system to treat specific water quality issues identified through testing. Common reasons include treating hard water (high calcium and magnesium) that causes scale buildup and dry skin; removing high levels of iron or manganese which stain fixtures and laundry; or eliminating odors, such as the "rotten egg" smell caused by hydrogen sulfide. We recommend a customized solution based on your water test results.
Is well drilling a year-round service, or is it seasonal?
We offer well drilling and most repair services year-round in the Elk River area. While winter drilling requires specialized equipment and techniques to manage frozen ground, our commitment to providing essential services means we operate consistently. Our 24-hour answering service is also available for emergency repairs, regardless of the season.
What is involved in the well sealing (abandonment) process?
Well sealing, or abandonment, involves permanently filling and capping a well that is no longer in use. This is a critical regulatory requirement mandated by the state to protect the aquifer from surface contamination. Our process involves removing all pumping equipment, clearing debris, and then filling the well borehole with approved sealing materials (like bentonite clay or cement grout) from the bottom up, ensuring a permanent, protective seal.
